Sorry for the inactivity in the last month! I spent most of June travelling through BC and Alberta in Canada, it was one of the most amazing trips I’ve ever made. While I was gone, my good friend Menah was secretly preparing a gift for me and my boyfriend Arjen which she revealed to us when we got back - little clay replicas of us and our cat in our living room. I literally cried with joy, and now I want to share it with the whole world. The resemblance she captured is amazing. For more pics and process images, check out her website here!
remake of an older piece from 2005, just for fun. inspired in part by sakimichan’s beautiful artwork!
a remake of an old piece i drew 11 years ago. it was the first drawing i did that made it to the deviantart front page, so it has a lot of sentimental value to me :) inspired heavily by alfonse mucha’s fantastic art nouveau posters.
manga-style art (i know this is a contested term, but i’ll risk generalizing for now) used to be one of my biggest influences when i was first starting out as an artist. today i suddenly got an impulse to see how i would approach the style with my current skillset, and this came out. it was so much fun! big credit for style reference goes to cushart on deviantart, one of my favorite artists.
detail of my last drawing
some intimidating neon chicks.
studies! trying to work with looser brushstrokes. refs from the deviantart stock photo section
cooked up something green for you.
steps (including ref image at the beginning) for this palette study (click for more info).
last weekend i visited the dordrechts museum and saw this beautiful painting by Ary Scheffer, a dude with the same hometown as me. i took a quick snapshot with my phone and decided to do a palette study based on that snapshot. it isn’t meant to be a one-on-one reproduction but just an exploration of the skintones mostly!
super speedy 10mn doodle!
self portrait! turned out a bit cartoony, proportion-wise. process video here.
